Dingle Peninsula, Ireland, at Slea Head in golden hour light. Wide view of green fields and old stone walls rolling down to the Atlantic, with the Blasket Islands on the horizon.

Europe, Savored Slowly

From the wild cliffs of Ireland to the sunlit shores of Italy, Spain, France and Portugal, we design journeys around the moments you'll talk about for years.

Europe Is Our Home

Come as our guest, and travel like a local.

Namara Tours is based between Ireland and Spain, and Europe is where we live, work, travel and dine every single day. That local knowledge is our greatest gift to you. We know the village pub where the music flows best, the family winery that will happily open its cellar just for your group, and the viewpoint that makes an early start worthwhile. Every journey is crafted by hand, guided by people who know and love these places, and paced so you can truly savor every moment.

Five countries we know by heart.

These are the places our tour directors live, argue about, and return to. Every itinerary below was written by someone who had been there the week before you arrive.

the Cliffs of Moher at golden hour, a sweeping view along the full length of the cliffs with O'Brien's Tower on top, green grass in the foreground, and Atlantic waves breaking far below under a warm sunset sky

Ireland — Majestic, Mystical, Warm-Hearted

Wild Atlantic coastlines, five-thousand-year-old stones, and a welcome that feels like coming home.

Few places stir the soul like Ireland. You'll drive coast roads where the land simply runs out into the Atlantic, and wander castles and monastic ruins steeped in legend. Each day ends by a turf fire with a pint, a story and a fiddle in the corner. For many of our travelers, Ireland is also a homecoming.

Signature moments:

  • Stand at the edge of the Cliffs of Moher as the Atlantic roars 700 feet below
  • Journey the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula, two of Europe's most beautiful drives
  • Step inside Newgrange, a passage tomb older than the Pyramids of Giza
  • Pull up a stool for a traditional music session in a village pub
  • Watch a working sheepdog gather a hillside flock
  • Feast at a medieval banquet inside a 15th-century castle
  • Trace your family roots with the help of local genealogists

Where we take you: Dublin · Galway & Connemara · The Burren · Dingle · Killarney & Kerry · Kinsale & Cork · Belfast & the Causeway Coast

At the table: Atlantic seafood chowder, slow-cooked Irish stew, fresh soda bread, Irish whiskey tastings, and Kinsale, Ireland's gourmet capital

Tuscany Val d'Orcia cypress road at golden hour

Italy — Grand, Golden & Gloriously Delicious

Two thousand years of art and history, served with the world's favorite food.

Italy does nothing by halves. It has Renaissance masterpieces, Roman ruins, villa-lined lakes and hill towns glowing in the evening light. Between them are long lunches that turn into afternoons. We take you to the icons, then slip away to the places Italians keep for themselves.

Signature moments:

  • Glide across Lake Como by private boat between Bellagio, Varenna and lakeside villas
  • Follow cypress-lined roads through Tuscany's Val d'Orcia to a family wine estate in Chianti
  • Stay among ancient olive groves in a Puglian masseria and wander the trulli of Alberobello

Alhambra Granada at sunset with the Sierra Nevada behind

Spain — Passion, History & Fire

The rhythm of flamenco, the glow of Moorish palaces, and a table that never seems to close.

Spain lives out loud. In Andalucía, our own backyard, Moorish palaces, whitewashed villages and orange-scented plazas tell the story of eight centuries in which three cultures met. Evenings start late and run long. There are tapas from bar to bar, a glass of sherry, and the heartbeat of flamenco in a room so small you feel every stamp of the heel.

Signature moments:

  • Feel the raw emotion of flamenco in an intimate Seville tablao or a cave in Granada's Sacromonte
  • Explore the Alhambra, the crown jewel of Moorish Spain, framed by the Sierra Nevada
  • Wander the forest of arches inside Córdoba's Mezquita
  • Cross Ronda's dramatic bridge, suspended high above the El Tajo gorge
  • Taste sherry in the bodegas of Jerez and watch the famous dancing Andalusian horses
  • Discover Gaudí's Barcelona and the hidden coves of the Costa Brava
  • Unwind on the Costa Tropical, where mango and avocado groves meet the Mediterranean

Where we take you: Seville · Granada · Córdoba · Ronda & the White Villages · Jerez · Costa Tropical · Madrid & Toledo · Barcelona & the Costa Brava

At the table: Tapas, jamón ibérico, paella cooked over an open fire, Andalusian olive oil, and churros dipped in thick hot chocolate

Mont-Saint-Michel at dusk reflected in the tide

France — Rivers, Romance & Living History

Follow the great rivers from Paris to the sea, and from Lyon to the sun.

France rewards those who slow down. You can glide past the landmarks of Paris on the Seine and stand in quiet reflection on the beaches of Normandy. You can drift south along the Rhône through vineyards and Roman cities, then walk the ramparts of Carcassonne as if stepping into a storybook. Every region has its own table, and every table is worth the trip.

Signature moments:

  • Cruise the Seine at dusk as Paris lights up, then follow the river to Monet's gardens at Giverny, medieval Rouen and the harbor of Honfleur
  • Pay tribute at Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc and the Normandy American Cemetery, a deeply moving day for every American traveler
  • Watch the tide sweep around Mont-Saint-Michel
  • Dine in a traditional bouchon in Lyon, France's capital of gastronomy
  • Explore Avignon's Palace of the Popes and the Roman Pont du Gard, and taste Châteauneuf-du-Pape at the source
  • Walk in Van Gogh's footsteps in Arles and meet the white horses and flamingos of the Camargue
  • Stroll the double ramparts of Carcassonne's medieval Cité at sunset

Where we take you: Paris · The Seine Valley · Normandy · Lyon · Provence & the Rhône · Carcassonne & Languedoc · The Loire Valley

At the table: Buttery croissants, Normandy cider and Calvados, Camembert, Lyonnaise cooking, slow-baked cassoulet, and Provençal rosé

Pena Palace Sintra above the forest on a clear day

Portugal — Where Europe Meets the Atlantic

Seven hills, fairytale palaces, golden coastline and the soulful sound of fado.

Portugal is gentle, soulful and endlessly surprising. Lisbon tumbles down its hills to the river, Porto glows above the Douro, and inland the Alentejo moves at the pace of its cork oaks. Then there's the Atlantic, with wild beaches, cliffside villages and seafood straight from the boat.

Signature moments:

  • Ride a vintage yellow tram through Lisbon's Alfama, then end the night in a fado house
  • Explore Sintra's fairytale palaces and descend the spiraling Initiation Well of Quinta da Regaleira
  • Discover mystical Évora, with its Roman temple, the haunting Chapel of Bones, and a megalithic stone circle older than Stonehenge just outside town
  • Cruise the Douro past terraced vineyards and taste port in the historic cellars facing Porto
  • Follow the Atlantic coast from chic Cascais to Nazaré, home of record-breaking giant waves
  • Sip cherry ginja from a chocolate cup in the medieval walled village of Óbidos
  • Extend to the Azores for volcanic crater lakes, whale watching and natural hot springs
