10 Reasons you should visit the Canary Islands
The islands of eternal spring are a unique wonder to the world. Situated just off the coast of Morocco and having been a part of Spain for centuries since their discovery, these islands are filled with a selection of rare landscapes, mesmerising coastlines, delicious food and amazing architecture. Here, we'll show you the reasons why the Canaries are a must, for your next european vacation.

Stunning landscapes

The Canary islands have been formed by volcanoes and magma activity jolting out of the seabeds of the Atlantic given them unique landscapes filled with breathtaking valleys and coastlines. On each and every Island you have rugged mars like Volcano summits and valleys that make you feel like you are in a Jurassic Park scene (thankfully without the dinasaurs). Apart from that each island is different and you have a wonderful variety. A great example is La Gomera and La Palma, both being the most tropical, due to being the furthest out from the coast of Africa as well as being influenced by the mild Atlantic rain. Then there's Fuerteventura, the closest island to Morocco. Filled with Saharan sand and turquoise beaches that makes it a sunbathers heaven on earth.
Year round sunshine
Being off the northern coast of Africa and on the same latitude as the Caribbean gives the Canary Islands a unique climate. For centuries spaniards and most europeans have known these islands as "The Islands Of Eternal Spring". With temperatures year round hovering between 67 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. For europeans its a place for a getaway break in the sun and beach between the months of November and April.
Savory cuisine
Being blessed with year round good weather has its perks when it comes to food. The islands are famous for their rich vegetation and volcanic soil. Which gives way to plants and fruit growing rich with nutrients and minerals. Tropical fruits have been an been a main source of income for most of the islanders formany years.

Tenerife is known to have the tastiest bananas in the world. Which in turn creates some flavoursome banana liquor. Lanzarote with its dark black volcanic soil, is renowned for its rich red wine and Fuerteventura is infamous for its Aloe Vera which is exported as dry fruit and for cosmetics around the world.
Peculiar architecture

Imagine South American colonial style buildings, brimming with color and charm, along with a hint of old age European architecture. Now mix that together with some modern style focusing on the jaw dropping volcanic island and voila !!!!

You have some of the most amazing designs in all of Europe. The Canary Islands were also home to Cesar Manrique, a world renowned artist native of the island of Lanzarote and a proud canarian. He was one of the first artists ever to invoke the blend between human design and raw mother nature at its core. His work is dotted across the islands and are always a must see for all visitors. Many modern day architects always travel to the Canaries to get that inspiration of mixing nature and man in a unique design.
Different islands, different activities.
Each and every one of the Canary islands has a little bit of everything for everyone. The islands offer a diverse range of sports activities from hiking to playing golf. From Mountain climbing to Whale watching and from sunbathing in golden sand beaches to shopping (which gets us to our next points) .
Tax free shopping
Yes, you heard that right!!!!!!!

Due to the Canary Islands being a 2 hour flight away from mainland Spain and in order to promote consumption from visiting tourists the normal 21% tax on goods that is put in Spain does not apply to the Canaries. Instead they have their own low tax rate of 5% which is usually only applied to restaurants for meals. However all the rest is usually subject to the discretion of business owners. Alcohol, by the way is tax free so you better enjoy those savory glasses of volcanic wine.
Paradise like beaches
Being off the coast of Africa and a slight bit north of the equator means that the Canary Islands are filled with heavenly beaches just perfect for sunbathing and enjoy those relaxing and unwinding moments of life. The selection is diverse, from volcanic black sand beaches in the northern coast of the island of Tenerife to the turquoise beaches with Sahara sand in Fuerteventura. There's something for everyones taste.
Comfortable accommodation
With the Canaries being well established over the past few decades as Europe's Hawaii. All the islands have excellent accommodation selections ranging from the quiet hilltop retreats to the luxurious well established hotel chain resort brands on the coasts. Whether its a getaway you're looking for on the hilltops to disconnect or lounging in a resort filled with luxury and pampering the choice is endless.
Its pretty close

Some people imagine the Canary Islands like a mystical place far far away but when you look at a map one can see its about it its only roughly 7 to 8 hours away flight time away. Almost the same time as it takes to fly to Mainland Europe. And almost half the time it takes to get from the East Coast United States to Hawaii.
The Airfare
A great variety of airlines now offer wonderful airfare to the Canaries with a short layover in either Lisbon or Madrid. With United announcing direct flights from Newark to Tenerife from Summer 2022, the Canaries are even closer. With average airfare being $500 round trip per person year round from New York and other East Coast cities and weather always great, its never been a better time to visit the Canaries more than now.
